SearchCheck

SearchCheck is a service unique to Intranet Focus Ltd that supports the development of a prioritized roadmap for intranet and enterprise search development. It is based on a set of 40 heuristic Checkpoints that provide a score that measures the extent to which your organisation has the information needed to make a success of the procurement process. The Checkpoints are based on the outcomes of projects undertaken over the last ten years.

The topics covered in the SearchCheck assessment are search strategy, governance, user requirements, content scope, technology architecture, search performance and user experience.

The assessment can be conducted through a two-hour video conference call and so can be undertaken in whichever countries is appropriate and with colleagues linking in from other locations. There is no requirement to provide on-line access to your search applications.

The draft report will be delivered within five working days and the final report includes a PowerPoint summary presentation for senior managers.
The scores will give your organisation a quantitative assessment of the current state of your search environment that can be very useful in making a business case as targets can be set for.

The chart below shows the way in which a score for each topic can be compared with what is judged to be the anticipated requirement to meet business objectives and also what the optimum position could be.

Current – the score for the current situation

Plan – needed to effectively support the organisation over the next 12 – 18 months

Optimum – best practice based on around 100 projects carried out over the last twenty years

SearchCheck assessments are usually carried out within a project engagement but the service is available on a stand-alone basis.
